Wedding anniversary advice following my Dad’s death

Loss Anniversary

Hi all, my first time here so I hope I’m asking in the right sub.

My Mum and Dad celebrated their golden (50th) wedding anniversary in September last year. Alas, my Dad passed away very quickly from an acute illness this May gone.

My Mum told me that when they were just getting married that they set themselves a challenge that they would make it at least to their 50th, and so they did, which is wonderful! We joke now that Dad wasn’t meant to take that literally as the final goalpost 😄🥲

What would have been their 51st is coming up and I’m going to ask Mum how she’d like to mark it. But the thought came to me that I could think of something to give or do that Dad would have liked to give/do with her. If she says she’d like a gathering/party of some sort that would signal to me that she still wants to recognise the day, I’d love to give her a little piece of Dad’s presence (presents - gettit?) in his stead.

As I wrote all this I’m telling myself just stick to what she asks so maybe a wasted post? But I also know that if I could do/give something meaningful that she mightn’t expect may give her a ray of joy to illuminate the day.

So - yeah, sorry. I don’t even know if inhale a question, it just felt really healthy writing this all down. Any comments welcome of course and obviously if I’ve completely misconstrued the purpose of this sub then I apologise.
