AITAH - Girlfriend against me purchasing a second firearm

Me and my girlfriend currently live together and we have one firearm (handgun), and I’d like to have that firearm be in the car, but I’d like one more to have in the house, both in locked area to have for self defense. I would like the second firearm to be a cooler one that I could use to get more into going to the range, because I’ve always loved target practice and would one day like to learn to hunt.

My girlfriend who also has a gun of her own, is heavily against me getting a second gun, especially a non-standard pistol, and her only line of reason was “because you don’t need it”. She posted a thread about it instead of trying to talk further to me about it and is trying to use other Reddit responses as backup saying “they said I should break up with you” “you’re a toxic personality and we won’t get along because of this” “I’m likely to be killed if you get a second gun”, overall just saying I’m invalidating her feelings if I decide to get a second gun.

I understand that she is allowed to not want me to do that, but I feel I shouldn’t be penalized for wanting a second firearm for the purpose of self protection and using only at the range, especially when she also has a gun (it feels largely hypocritical)
