How good is the X7 as a daily?

I really wanted to get into an X5, but it's simply too small for me. I need to have the seat all the way back, and that means no one will be able to sit behind me comfortably, because in their infinite wisdom, BMW decided to make the backseat space smaller than on your average airplane. Kind of ridiculous if you ask me.

So I ended up buying a CPO Audi Q8. Comfortable car, lots of interior space, very smooth ride. But damn, the build quality just sucks. Creaks galore, my seatback makes a ridiculous knocking sound constantly, and apparently Audi has a policy that after 6 months or 6000 miles they don't really fix creaks and such anymore. Probably because they know how shit their build quality is and they'd go bankrupt from all the warranty claims.

So anyway, I probably want to get out of this Q8. My first and last Audi. Now looking at either a Porsche Cayenne if I want to stay in the 2-row space, or maybe an X7. I already tested one out at CarMax, just out of curiosity, and it will definitely solve the space problem, with way more room in the backseat. I tested a pre-LCI X7 xDrive40i and the car does feel significantly heavier and slower from a driving perspective. I also know the LCI version got a hp bump to 375, not sure if that has helped the performance. I could jump to a M50/M60, but those engines are also a lot thirstier. I want a German car for the "fun-to-drive" aspect, or at least more fun than their Japanese counterparts.

How does the X7 fare as a daily from a fun to drive aspect? Does hp bump in the LCI solve the feeling of slowness relative to the X5? Or is it just generally going to be a bit more of a boat as it's simply a lot bigger and heavier?
