Which type of lawyer in AL

Hey all I need direction. This is my first time doing anything like this.

Long story short, took my car to a local mechanic to swap the engine. Within 3 days of getting it back it died so bad I couldnt recharge it because he put a bad battery in it. Tried to get a hold of him for a week with no response. Took the car to a second vender getting quotes another 2400 to fixed everything he messed up. First guy comes back threatening to press charges of theft if we dont pay him. I have reached out to ask what flexibility he has for payment plans for the rest of what we owe him because he did technically finish the work, but he did cause damage to other parts of the car thay rendered it inoperable. I am a SAHM married to a trucker and this is my daily. Ive been without it for almost a month and spent almost $8k to fix it when it was supposed to be just $5k. If he had communicated at all I could have been flexible, but a week with no response doesnt sound reasonable especially when where is live is definitely more rural than suburb.
