[PSA] Visualping update: No more “Compare type” or “Threshold.” Just tell the AI what you're looking for and it’ll alert you when that happens.
Hey... big quality-of-life update from the Visualping team. Some very big changes below (and we’ll hang out in the comments to answer anything).
Please take a minute to read, try it, and tell us what you think.
- Compare type 'All' will compare both Text and Visual components of a website
- Threshold and Type won't matter... your prompt will cover everything
- New Flow: Add a URL -> Explain what you're looking for and pick a section of the page (or whole page) -> Done
What’s new (and why it matters)
- Prompt-based monitoring. Instead of choosing compare modes and tweaking thresholds, you write a short prompt describing what you care about. So you'll get rid of false positives, fewer missed changes, and setup takes seconds.
- Signal over noise. The AI ignores trivial stuff (spacing, icons, ad slots) and zeroes in on changes aligned to your prompt (pricing, policy text, inventory, headline shifts, etc.).
- One default that “just works.” With All as the default under the hood, you don’t need to decide a compare strategy, just focus on telling us what changes you're looking for
Good prompt examples
Use natural language. Be specific about what’s important and what to ignore.
Pricing pages: “Alert me when the listed monthly price changes or when a limited-time discount starts or ends. Ignore cosmetic changes and rotating banners.”
Gov/regulatory: “Notify me if the ‘Guidance’ section adds, removes, or revises requirements or effective dates. Ignore navigation and footers.”
Competitor product pages:“Let me know if the feature list, plan limits, or availability changes. Ignore testimonials and image swaps.”
Careers pages:“Alert me when new roles appear for ‘Risk’ or ‘Data Science’ in North America. Ignore location filter UI.”
Tip: If magnitude matters, just say it:
“Only alert me if the price changes by more than around 5%,”
“Flag when the headline message changes meaning, not minor wording.”
FAQ
Q: Can I still fine-tune sensitivity?
A: Yes—through your prompt. Be explicit about what’s meaningful and what to ignore.
Q: Will this reduce false positives?
A: That’s the goal. The AI prioritizes intent-aligned changes and filters noise like layout nits or asset churn.
Q: Do I need area selection?
A: It’s optional, but narrowing to the relevant section + a good prompt yields the cleanest alerts.
