16 plus to 17 trade in?

hi! i just got a new iphone a month ago. this wasn’t initially part of the plan, as i had a 14 pro max that had been with me for more than 2 years and was still working smoothly, until it got snatched while i was riding a motorcycle 🥹 so i had to buy a new one out of necessity, and after a month of using it, i can really feel that it’s more of a downgrade (especially camera-wise). now, i’m seeing posts about the iphone 17 base and i’m REALLY loving the sage green color on it 😭😭😭

has anyone experienced trading in a phone to upgrade?? what was it like? and do you think it’s worth it? my problem is the 17 series doesn’t come out in my country until next month, so the trade in value of the 16 plus probably would have dropped by then? also i bought this with a postpaid plan from my service provider. is it possible/allowed? 😅
