Question

Hi everyone, I’m going to be talking about a feeling I’m sure all of you know very well. Have you ever smelled a certain scent or listened to a specific song, and suddenly your mind starts remembering… and remembering… and remembering? That feeling is called nostalgia—a sentimental longing for moments that have already passed. It’s very bittersweet, isn’t it? Depending on the memories it brings up, nostalgia can make you feel happy and comforted, or maybe a little melancholy or regretful—or sometimes both. The question is: how does nostalgia really affect us and the way we live?

Well, nostalgia can also be a comforting reminder that you’ve experienced moments of happiness in your life. This can actually make us appreciate the present more—knowing that we already have memories we cherish can encourage us to savour the moment and even create more joyful experiences. It can even guide us to reconnect with people from our past or revisit hobbies that once brought us joy. for example, maybe your old friend from primary school who you drifted away from even though you were inseparable 4 years ago. it wouldn’t hurt to just send them a message and see how they’ve been. On the other hand, nostalgia can be a painful reminder of past regrets. It can make us feel stuck in the past. For example, have you ever been awake at night imagining what could have happened if you had just done things differently? The truth is, we can’t go back in time and fix everything—but we can move forward. We can use our regrets to guide how we live life from now on. I’m not saying we have to forget the past completely, but we do need to remember that no matter what happened, the days will keep passing. So, what regrets do you have that you can learn from, to prevent yourself from feeling the same way in the future? Maybe then, nostalgia will bring you joy instead of sorrow.

side note: yes i used chatgpt but i wrote it myself and asked chat to js correct it okay don’t come for me😞 also speech should be about 5 mins so is it long enough? im also worried about what questions my teacher might ask after the speech
