Keyboard vs. Controller

Thoughts? As an older women (49) my hands hurt and don't have the speed and dexterity they used to have. I see I can add a keyboard and mouse to my Xbox. I might try my daughter's computer to see if that helps, but ultimately would like to play on my Xbox however I'm able to. We're currently playing Hollow Knight and I'm struggling to get past the bosses and feel like a keyboard might help. I also want to get Assassin's Creed Shadows. Wish scaling was an option for Hollow Knight.... I've not finished the first game, have had to make my son beat some bosses for me when he's home from school.
