So state of the game?
So here we are at last. The player base has grown apathetic—more so than even during Curse of Osiris. Morale is at the lowest point I’ve ever seen.
For many of us, the game we once loved feels like it’s dying. For me personally, it already feels dead.
What I want—what I think the community deserves—are answers. I want Bungie to explain the philosophy behind what the game has become. I’d like a detailed report tracing the reasoning behind these changes, starting from adjustments that began with Revenant.
Let’s start with the basics:
- Why was weapon crafting removed? What was the actual purpose? Was it to artificially increase grind, lower player power levels, or both?
- Why is the light grind so punishing? Why does leveling up take so long, and why do I feel weaker at higher light levels due to light deficits? That seems to defeat the entire purpose of progression.
- Why is loot quality tied to light instead of skill? If I clear Grandmasters, shouldn’t I be rewarded with the highest-tier loot regardless of light level?
- Why does “featured gear” exist? Is it to control the meta, to discourage the use of older gear, or to force players into farming new items?
- Why do damage reductions and buffs on new gear only last six months? Is this just to push players back into constant farming cycles? We know Bungie’s history—eventually, systems get designed around these mechanics, leading to more power creep. This approach feels unsustainable.
- Why introduce new materials while removing Legendary Shards? Wasn’t the goal to simplify and streamline gear upkeep?
- Why keep implementing temporary, location-based powers instead of expanding aspects and fragments to create true build variety? Wasn’t the new subclass system supposed to make ongoing additions easier? Why do we only see a handful every few years?
- Why did Prismatic receive nerfs instead of being developed further as a core option for build diversity?
I love this game deeply, but I need to understand why these changes were ever considered good ideas.
