Short cervix - just on progesterone- no cerclage - 24 weeks
I got to know about short cervix when I was measuring 2.4cm at 21 weeks 1 day on August 22nd. It was terrifying. Doctor prescribed me progesterone and I started using it vaginally 200mg every night from August 26th after the doctors appt on August 25th. Doctor also advised me ultrasound scanning every 2 weeks. Doctor told me not to change any activities and daily walking of 2 - 2.5km is fine and moderate activities is also fine. So, I did not worry about anything. She reassured that it’s not bad at all and after listening to that I was feeling better so I carried with my regular activities and walking 2km in the morning.
I got my next scanning on September 8th (23 weeks 4 days) and cervix length had shortened further to 1.74 cm to 1.82 cm. I was totally devastated. Sonographer asked me to go Hospital immediately and I was referred to MFM by my OBGyn. When I went to the hospital they admitted me to the hospital and gave me full course of Steroids and refused to put cerclage as I am close to 24 weeks. They advised me pelvic rest and continue progesterone vaginally 200mg. Since my cervix is closed, no contractions, no bleeding they discharged me from the hospital.
I am just praying god and hoping for the best. I just want my baby to stay in the womb for 40 weeks. Please anybody with similar experience, please share your experience and if you had success with it please share even that, it just gives me reassurance. Thank you
