Concerns over Comic-Con this year

Promise I'm not trying to be some fear-mongering crazy person. I know statistically NYC is incredibly safe and I've never been there or to one of these conventions, but given recent events in the news and US political-polarization, I'm honestly a bit worried safety-wise. I think NYC does a great job at preventing such things and passing great policies that benefit the people, and I know it is incredibly safe as a whole, especially by the standards of other major American cities, in particular the statistics are impressive given the sheer size of the city. I posted the same question on the comiccon sub and they've reassured me security is extensive and things shouldn't be an issue. Just wanting to generate as unbiased and realistic of a perspective as possible. Thanks you guys and hope y'all are having a good day.
