Did I handle this breakup wrong? Feeling really bad about it.
I (27M) recently broke up with my girlfriend (25 F). We were together for about 3 months, but things moved really fast—we were basically living together after a month. I cared about her a lot, but I had issues with trust and kept questioning her about things.
When I finally ended it, I didn’t do it in the best way. I kind of just left instead of talking things through. The next day we spoke and it felt fine, but then I started sending her cryptic messages about something I found out. Said some things that weren’t worded very nicely, A couple days later we talked again, and somehow we ended up kissing. After that, I called her and we argued. I got emotional, didn’t speak to her all weekend, and then sent a long message explaining everything about why I wanted to break up.
Now I’m looking back and feel like I completely mishandled it. I regret how messy and confusing I made things for both of us. I know breakups are always hard, but I can’t shake the feeling that I made it worse than it needed to be.
Did I handle this breakup wrong? And how do I stop beating myself up over it?
TL;DR: Ended things with my girlfriend in a messy way (left without talking, cryptic messages, back-and-forth contact, then a long emotional text). Now I feel like I handled it badly and I’m having a hard time letting it go.
