student working visa

hi all! i’m a masters student from the US (so stamp 2) and my IRP appointment isn’t until the end of november. but i’ve found a job willing to hire me under the allowed 20 hours a week. i’ve applied for a PPSN as well, and the appointment will be soon. i’m just confused because im seeing conflicting answers online, on when i can work? can i work before the appointment, or only after? the appointment is so far away, it is unreasonable to expect students to be going months without working while they wait for appointments?? any clarification would be great
