Imported audio track distorted and crackly

I have an issue, I import an audio track, it plays fine at first on the timeline, but as soon as I mess around a bit doing small things like fast forwarding the video or going back and forth, suddenly it starts being distorted and glitchy, and only restarting the program fixes it

Does anoyne else know this issue?
