Destiny: is there life after...
...Marathon? (It turns out that you can't put this word in the title).
I'm going to indulge in pure conspiracy theories now, but after the latest update, it's obvious to me that 95% of Bungie's resources are focused on urgently refining Marathon, while Destiny is currently being worked on by a very, very small team (we may have even seen them all in ViDOC lol (joke)).
Well, it looks like Bungie is tying their prosperous future (and the continued expansion of their top managers' fleet of rare cars) to the success of Marathon, but what does this mean for the future of Destiny? I see two options.
Case #1: Marathon comes out and turns out to be an incredible success, brings Bungie a lot of money, allows them to expand their team, etc. But in that case, will Destiny content support return to its previous qualitative and quantitative level? Or not, since most likely, support for an extraction shooter is much easier and cheaper than the content support for Destiny that we had before EoF?
Case number 2: Marathon does not achieve planned financial indicators, does not recoup development costs (fails in general). And then all losses will have to be recouped at the expense of Destiny. But will this lead to the fact that Marathon development resources will be returned to Destiny to make quality content again and return the player base? Or will Bungie never recover from such a failure, will they be finally absorbed by Sony, and Destiny will remain on a life support system of endless repetition of old content (and Eververse updates, of course)?
So, there's a pretty good chance that no matter what happens, we won't see the same amount of content support for Destiny that we used to. What do you guys think?
