Car rental issues

We have been renting a car for around 5ish months under a new rental company/person. At the very beginning we came to an agreement per his decision to pay 3 months at a time. 10k baht a month so 30k baht for the 3 months.

• within the first 2 months after paying the 30k baht… he messaged and asked for an additional 10k baht because he need to pay for something dealing with the car… okay no problem and we sent it. He also stated that he need to take the car for 2 days to get the busted rear bumper fixed. Great! Fixed and had it back in 3days. Issue is within the two days he hit someone…

• fast forward to the start of the next 3 months… we pay 30k baht as agreed. Not even two weeks in he asked for an additional 10k baht.. again… claiming to need it for another issue on the car. Sent him the 10k baht. Not even a month goes by and he sends numerous messages begging that we send him 8k baht because he desperately needed it for court…. Stated it would just be deducted from next payment. Sent. Another. 8k baht to him…..

-fast forward a week he then messages us stating that he needs to take the car for 5-7 days to simply get THE SCRATCH (yes an easily fixable scratch from him hitting someone) fixed… it’s been almost 3 weeks since. He barely responds and it’s like we have to send him numerous messages to get a response and his responses are always “idk I am waiting to hear back from shop”….

Keep in mind… it took two whole days to completely replace a busted rear bumper… but 3 weeks to fix a scratch????

I am convinced that we are being played. Anyone else come across something like this? Is it better to just buy/lease a car here and not go through renting from people? Does anyone know where I can find reliable renting companies if renting is a better option?
