Why Switzerland and especially Lugano has become fertile ground for P2P access

When people talk about crypto being “global,” the reality is often more fragmented. In most places, access depends on centralized platforms, licenses, and heavy registration processes. Switzerland stands apart. Its tradition of neutrality and financial innovation has created an environment where peer-to-peer solutions are not only possible, but actively encouraged.

The city of Lugano is today one of the most advanced laboratories for decentralized finance in the world. Several initiatives converge here to make P2P payments and crypto adoption tangible:

  • Plan ₿ Lugano – an official municipal program that integrates Bitcoin and stablecoins into the city’s economy, from shops to public services, turning Lugano into a living case study of mass crypto acceptance.
  • PoW Space – a community-driven hub where developers, startups, and researchers collaborate on new blockchain protocols, with a strong focus on open-source and P2P innovation.
  • International summits – events like Pears Summit bring together regulators, entrepreneurs, and technologists, consolidating Lugano’s role as a European meeting point for the future of money.

This environment isn’t accidental. Local institutions and communities have deliberately created a supportive ecosystem for projects that emphasize decentralization, privacy, and user self-sovereignty.

anyCrypto was designed within this context. As a non-custodial, proof-based interface, it reflects the same values:

  • no custody of user funds,
  • transparent flows guaranteed by cryptographic proofs,
  • integration with the same P2P rails that Swiss users already trust in their daily lives.

In other words, Lugano acts as both a testbed and a showcase. It demonstrates how a city can embrace peer-to-peer access not just as a technical experiment, but as a civic priority. And it shows why Switzerland is uniquely suited to lead this new phase of decentralized adoption.
