From a liberal: The death of Charley Kirk is a huge tragedy

I don't know much about Charley Kirk, but what I've learned is that he heavily engaged in open debate. This is something I value tremendously. As someone who holds a few left-leaning views (for example, I favor universal healthcare), I think I would have been on the opposite side of the table if I'd debated Charley Kirk. It would have been productive and educational. But now that's no longer possible because some horrible person decided unilaterally that Kirk had to die. We don't know who killed him or their political views, but it was probably politically motivated. This is not how we should be in the USA, killing people for having the "wrong" politics or "wrong" religion or "wrong" whatever. The sicko who killed Kirk has only contributed to worsening our already polarized politics.
