Could these products be linked to urinary problems in cats from different households?

Starting in June my cat Ellie began having urinary issues that were eventually diagnosed by her vet as FIC without crystals and most likely stressed induced. Around the same time my mother who lives in the same state, but different city began to have urinary issues with her cats as well. Previously there were no urinary issues in either household.

Her female cat began showing urinary symptoms, was diagnosed with a bladder infection, and treated with antibiotics. She went back to normal soon after the dosage was complete.

Not long after that my mothers male cat began to show urinary symptoms as well. He was given continuous antibiotics by his vet, but never fully recovered and now has had to be rushed to the vet for a possible blockage.

As we both live in the same state and use many of the same products I’m wondering if there is some sort of correlation?

Also around the same time as both our cats urinary problems started our states water changed and started tasting bad due to strong algae bloom, could this or the chemicals they add to fix the algae bloom cause urinary problems?

Same products we use:

  • Special Kitty brand clumping litter
  • Special Kitty brand wet food (I sometimes use Friskies instead)
  • Meow Mix original choice dry kibble (Sams club version)
  • Tap water put through a water filter

Also, all the products above we have both been using for over a year.
