10 XL what zoom level does it become AI?

I know the XL has a 100x zoom, but reports of it actually not the image you take at all but AI, I thought it just used AI to "fill in the gaps" and sharpen/enhance?

Is there a level it uses actual lens data, and can you switch it off?
