Something hit me today - Improvement is a long game.

Lovers

I've been a heavily flawed man all my life, and all my time with you. It took me so long to recognise that, but hopefully not too long. I'll never make excuses for how I was, I accept my failures and the pain they brought on.

But y'know what? Meeting a new person is bracing yourself for teething issues. Being prepared that when they do something that hurts and you ask them to stop, they might say "no". It might drive you crazy. It might take far too fucking long for them to finally realise they need to put you first before they lose you.

But when they notice that, game on. Don't waste your time going through it all again. When you've found the person who will change every core of their being because they know it's best for themselves and for you, never let go. I'm sure it can be done again with the next guy but I'm also sure true love and commitment like that is SO rare.

I'll never stop apologising for taking too long to wake up. But I'll never stop proving that I'm here now, and that you never have to waste your time convincing the next guy to stop behaviours that hurt. I'm all yours, and I know how to keep you happy, safe, and risk-free. I'm not asking for your unconditional love and trust, but I'm begging you for a sliver of curiosity to watch me be a man of my word.
