Why Your Pitch Isn’t Working (And How to Fix It)
Here's the real story behind “Pitch the Tide” our new weekly live Restaurant Technology Showcase
We didn’t build Pitch the Tide in a boardroom.
We built our new show LIVE. With real people. Through trial, error, and momentum.
Pitch the Tide is a weekly story-led showcase where founders, sales execs, and others share the "why" behind their work—not just what they built—and then get live, honest, real-time feedback from a supportive group of industry peers.
The idea first came during the early days of the pandemic. Like many others, we were trying to figure out how to stay connected—how to turn our internal team meetings into something that could help others, too.
So we started showing up on Clubhouse. Every Friday morning at 10am PST (like we still do today on multiple platforms).
Slowly our community that started with 2, ended up with more than 1,400.
We had no slides, no script, no sponsorship. Just open and revealing conversations with restaurant operators, consultants, tech founders, creators, and small business owners.
Week after week, more people showed up. We weren’t hosting events—we were building a community.
We didn’t just talk about business, we talked about life, we got to know each other.
That community became Rising Tides Live. And from that, we created Pitch the Tide.
If you’re struggling to get people to understand your product, idea, or service—here’s why:
- You’re pitching the what, not the why.
- You’re listing features, not telling a story.
- You’re trying to sell, when what people actually want is to believe.
Pitch the Tide is not a demo day.
It’s not a Shark Tank knockoff.
It’s not a webinar.
It is belief-driven storytelling and feedback from real people.
Everyone who pitches gets a short time to tell their story. No long-winded intros. Just time to make people care.
We keep it short on purpose. Because clarity creates understanding which creates connection.
