$12.60 Refund for an Untravelled Leg

My wife and I didn't travel our Chicago -> London leg of our honeymoon so we could actually make our connecting flight and American couldn't help us make our London -> Naples Italy leg.

They gave us a $12.60 refund for each ticket. I am navigating this with customer relations but they take forever to respond. This is ridiculous. Is there any way to escalate?
