my boyfriend’s ex pretending she was pregnant and had a miscarriage but only telling his friend and not us

TRIGGER WARNING

Hi everyone, I really need some advice because this situation is making me uncomfortable.

My boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend has been spreading stories that she got pregnant with his baby and then had a miscarriage. But instead of telling my boyfriend directly (or even me), she’s been saying it to one of his friends, almost like she wants it to get back to us indirectly.

For context, she ghosted him before and their relationship ended a long time ago. The miscarriage she claims supposedly happened about 5 months after their breakup, which was also around 2 months into the time my boyfriend and I were in the talking/getting-to-know stage. But here’s the thing — we only found out about all of this recently, not when it supposedly happened. The timing feels off, especially since she only started bringing it up after her friend confronted me and asked what was going on between me and my boyfriend. On top of that, she’s been posting a lot about miscarriage on social media, which feels like she’s trying to make it more convincing without directly talking to us.

I already confronted her about it, but she couldn’t give me any proof or explain herself clearly. All she said was basically, “maniwala ka man sa hindi” (believe it or not).

It’s stressing me out because this kind of rumor can ruin my boyfriend’s reputation and affect our relationship. I don’t know if I should just ignore it, confront her again, or ask his friend to stop entertaining her stories.

Has anyone dealt with something like this before? How do you handle an ex trying to stir drama like this?
