Going on 2 Weeks of being Ghosted

First ever Reddit post, but I would really like to hear thoughts from an unbiased party (sorry if it’s long!). I’m in my early 30s, and started dating a guy at the beginning of the summer. We clicked pretty quickly, but agreed to take it slow - I’ve had a pretty tough go with dating and he was married before a long time ago. We agreed that we were both looking for something serious and long lasting, so I was cautiously optimistic.

The whole summer went really well - consistent but not overbearing texting (even when I was out of the country for work), consistent plans, meeting each other’s dogs, and he came to a get together I hosted to meet a big group of my friends. A few weeks back, I invited him to my house for dinner, and he met my mom briefly (I did give him the option to not meet her just yet, but he said he wanted to meet her). We hadn’t had the official “what are we” conversation, but I felt we were on track to have that conversation sooner than later.

Texting continued as normal for the next few days, but then stopped abruptly 3 days later. When I asked if he was ok, he did respond to say “hey I’m sorry, things have been crazy and I’m just trying to make it to the weekend. How are you?” That was 2 weeks ago, and it’s the last communication from him. I did reach out a few times to ask if he was ok, and finally to say that I wanted to make sure that he had the time and space to deal with whatever was going on, but that I still wanted to hear from him and I was leaving it up to him to reach out when things calmed down.

I’m honestly just really confused by the whole thing. I’ve been ghosted before, but never after this amount of time, and never after meeting my people (honestly, he was the first person that I introduced to friends/family). I’ve also noticed that he hasn’t blocked me anywhere- he doesn’t use social media a lot, but I’m not blocked on the sites he does use, and at last text, I wasn’t blocked there, either. Maybe it’s me just grasping at straws, but when I’ve been ghosted before, that was always part of it.

I really just don’t know what to think. I keep rotating between being angry that he’s acting this way and being sad because against my better judgement, I still really like him. I haven’t texted at all since saying I was leaving the ball in his court a week and a half ago. I don’t know if he’ll reach out, and even if he does, I don’t know if I should give him another chance, even if I want to. I’m really struggling with the whole thing, and would love an outside perspective. Thanks in advance!
