Beginner Canon EOS R100 – Which lens should I get for my use cases?
Hi everyone,
I’m a beginner with photography and just got a Canon EOS R100 with the kit lens. I’m trying to figure out what additional lens (if any) I should invest in with my limited budget.
My main use cases are:
Astrophotography / Milky Way (I know quite aspirational for a beiginner, but I want to try)
Moon close ups
Street photography (both day and night)
Cityscapes and light trails
Occasional portraits and close-up shots (like flowers, people, etc.)
Right now, I only have the kit 18–45mm lens. I’ve read that primes like 25mm or 35mm f/1.8 are good for low light and street, but then telephoto lenses seem important for the moon. As a beginner on a very limited budget, I don’t want to go lens shopping blindly.
Which lens (or lenses) would you recommend I prioritize first? Something versatile that won’t break the bank but still lets me explore my interests?
Thanks in advance!
