Tips on meeting new people/making friends

Hi guys, Thought I’d put a post up asking if anyone knows any groups or anything similar that would be good for a 17 yr old female to meet new people and make friends. I have lived in Townsville for around 2 years now and haven’t managed to make any friends at all and I really can’t handle not having anyone to talk to or do basic fun things with anymore. I’m no longer in school and have been doing online study for a while now. I have gotten my license recently so I now have the freedom to do things and go out to make friends, but I simply don’t know how. I have only ever made friends though school so this is a whole new thing for me and since I don’t have even one friend to go to events etc with it is quite nerve racking to go alone. I also haven’t played a social sport since I was very very young so i’m not even sure how to join those.

Any tips or if anyone has experienced this sort of situation and could give me a bit of advice I would be super grateful. Thank you!
