How To Move Past Childhood/Trauma

Need Support

Hello. I'm 27f and am very self aware lol. My family is from Appalachia so there is a lot of passed-down trauma and of course my own of growing up in poverty, abuse, neglect, etc. My siblings are much older than I am and my mom recently passed. I'm in therapy and it helps a lot. However, spending more time away from my family and where I come from (I've lived more northern the past few years) I realize how...stuck my family is in the past? We never really have new conversations, time spent together is spent bringing up mostly horrible memories and trauma dumping on one another. I've realized this is not good but I'm so used to it. I find myself doing it now even to my friends. I get you're not supposed to just "move on" from trauma, but I feel like it shouldn't be affecting my life like this anymore. I want to live in the now and stop playing victim, because at this point that's what it feels like is happening. I'm aware I had struggles but I don't want that to be my whole story. Any tips for moving on, especially when having a trauma bonded family?
