Questions about obtaining a CDL in the New York City

I recently passed the CDL written test and obtained my learner’s permit. I’m planning to start attending a CDL school in the NYC, and I have a few questions:

1, Which would you recommend: using a mega carrier training program or going to school on my own?

I’ve heard that most good-paying jobs usually require 1-2 years of experience. Considering that, my personal thought is that it might make the most sense to first use a mega carrier program to obtain my CDL, then work for that company for a year to gain experience (which is usually a condition of the program), and afterward move on to a better-paying company. Do you think this approach is reasonable?

2, Based on that, could you recommend mega carriers within commuting distance of NYC, or, if you would suggest going to school on my own, are there any recommended CDL schools in or around NYC you would suggest?

Any info you could share would be helpful.

Thank you :)
