People who work as police officers or paramedics ; what is it like being paired with the same partner all the time?

I’ve always wondered how the dynamic works in jobs where you’re basically “stuck” with the same partner for long shifts, like police officers or paramedics.

Does it ever happen that you just don’t click with your partner or even dislike them? If so, do you end up spending entire days in silence, or is there some kind of unspoken professional way you make it work?

I’m curious if it’s more like having a work sibling you eventually learn to get along with, or if it can get really tense sometimes.
