Best foundation for skin over 45?

I've been told cream is the best, then it was powder, and finally liquid. Powder makes my skin look dry and flaky. Liquid dries and looks cakey. Cream didn't seem to dry at all and felt like it would rub off my face if I bumped my face or sweat.

So what's the secret to getting a foundation that works with skin over 45?
