Drugs demystified
Opiates -> hijack pleasure system signal.
Caffeine -> blocks adenosine sleep signal.
Amphetamine -> gaslights salience mechanism
Alcohol/Benzodiazepines -> broad repression of brain activity
Deliriants -> interfere with the perpetuation of sensory signal towards updating priors
Dissociatives -> temporarily cut brain wires
Salvia -> induces such a severe dysphoria that perception of reality is fundamentally altered
Nicotine -> exploits some brain loophole of habit formation
Anabolic steroids -> activate androgen receptors responsible for temperamental secondary sexual characteristics and intensify them
Psychedelics -> weaken the negative feedback loop mechanism of glutamate thus allowing for no-brakes propagation of neural activity that changes synaptic weights and thus priors especially in such a way that shallow (often sensory) priors propagate to deep priors, especially if a particular connection is constantly engaged
Cannabis -> increases the intensity of the negative feedback loop of activity in the central executive network, thus interfering with the possibility to rev up an inhibited focused strategic pursuit of a goal and shifting brain activity and thus behavior to a DMN dominated unfocused mode of mind. (bscly brainrot up, lock in down)
