Why is Kyle so insecure

I’m on my first watch and I’m around the middle of season 4 and I really just have to ask; Why does Kyle frame every compliment in this insecure self-deprecating show? I was on the scene of everyone at Carlton’s pool party, and while the obviously thin girls are in the pool, Kyle brings over a handful of fries and says something like “You guys look like you need fries” and start handing them out to them??

Like she does and says odd things like this in this childish/high school perspective when she feels threatened or jealous of another girl, and while everyone is always laughing at her lame jokes I just find it sad tbh. I’m honestly noticing that she acts like this childish generally anyway. Then she’s constantly reminding everyone that she’s from Beverly Hills like please lady we see it, stop trying to prove yourself or whatever that is!! Idk it was just bothering because i noticed this pattern last season with small moments and realized she is always like this.
