2.8 cm TR4 nodule found and have a few questions
Hi Everyone! I apologize for the long post, but I wanted to get some feedback from people who have experienced this instead of continuing to google doom scroll.
I have been having low grade fevers, night sweats, serious fatigue for going on a month now, and shortness of breath, with neck pain, difficulty swallowing, and coughing for about a month and a half (not too bad at first, pretty terrible now). At first my doctors were pretty clueless when I went in with neck pain and difficulty swallowing. They did lab work and never even felt of my neck. Ended up saying I had acid reflux.
About 2 weeks ago the fever and night sweats worsened and the fatigue has gotten so bad that I can hardly function at work (I’m a mental health therapist). I went to urgent care and the doctor finally felt my neck and said that he could feel my thyroid and he usually can’t. I started feeling around and found a lump that wasn’t there before. I’ve been feeling the discomfort, but couldn’t really feel anything from the outside until about 2 weeks ago I guess. Now it’s even larger and I can see it when I look in the mirror.
Lab work looks okay. My inflammation markers were borderline high, and I’ve been having elevated neutrophils and other off CBC stuff indicative of infection, but nothing too alarming.
They sent me for an ultrasound Friday and it confirmed a 2.8 cm nodule on my right lobe. It was TR 4. None of my doctors have really talked to me about diagnosis, I’ve learned everything from the internet and from reading my chart.
My question is, has anyone with a confirmed cancer diagnosis experienced these symptoms? Everything I’ve read has been vague and I’m trying to gauge what to expect. I feel terrible and that certainly doesn’t help anything because I’m having a hard time even distracting myself. I go to the ENT on Tuesday and I am being referred to an endocrinologist and for a CT.
