I just cancelled my 200 person wedding that was supposed to be in 3 weeks

Tough Times

Title says it all. 2 days ago I was given intel that my fiancé has been cheating on me emotionally since February. I saw the screenshots and was provided information that all checks out. He admitted to it but I feel extremely betrayed and heartbroken. Of course he wants to do everything in his power to fix this and work on us, but my gut instinct told me that there is no way I can walk down the aisle. The timing of this makes everything 1000x worse. My entire world has turned upside down and I have put so much time and effort into the past 2 years to make every detail of this day perfect. I am embarrassed and ashamed to share this news with friends and family.

I have so many questions on what the right things to do are regarding the guests…I don’t even know where to begin.

1.) Do I reimburse my bridesmaids for their dresses they paid for? 2.) We had 45 people book hotels because many were supposed to come out of state (both near and far) Do hotels typically give refunds under these dramatic circumstances? 3.) Should we be responsible for refunding any money/gifts that were given to me/us thus far? I literally just had my bridal shower last Sunday and also have a new home/honeymoon fund that people have been contributing over the past 6 months (for both shower and wedding gifts)
