Inaccurate Distance via GPS for hiking on Fenix 7S

I went on a hike this morning in an area that I am pretty familiar with, and did a loop that I know is at least 1.3 miles. I used the Hike activity on my Fenix 7S, waited for the GPS to activate (and even waited another minute or two while getting my pack on, etc.) before starting the activity. My watch consistently showed less mileage than my son's Apple Watch. At the end of our route, my watch said we only went 0.74 miles, while his showed we went 1.5 miles. When I pulled up the activity on the Connect app on my phone, it listed the activity and stats, but also did not show me a map of my route like it normally does.

I did go online when I went home and updated the watch software, and also changed the GPS settings to track me every second rather than "smart", so I am hoping that will make a difference.

Anyone encountered this issue recently or know if the adjustments I made above will make a difference for my next outing?
