What are the tiny little fish flip-flopping out of the water this time of year?

I’ve noticed in different salt water locations usually close to shore, schools of tiny fish briefly jumping out of the water, kind of just flip-flopping about, and I’m just curious what they are! They’re very small, and there were loads of them this morning in the harbour. Any ideas?
