Feeling Fraudulent

Two years ago I was diagnosed with autism.

When I tell people I am and I get the response of, "I never would've guessed." It truly makes me doubt myself.

I was also told my ADHD is related to trauma. I have since learned that trauma can be exacerbated by ADHD or can have similar symptoms.

I never try to use being autistic as an excuse for anything, simply an explanation. It just feels like since I am "high functioning," people may dismiss it or not see it.

I'm not your poster child. So I feel like a fraud.

When I was on social media I related to so much content about autism and ADHD. I truly felt like I belonged, I was seen. I deactivated everything about two months ago for peace, which has been amazing.

At the same time it feels like I am missing people who understand. I'm missing people who accept it.

Just needed to get that off my chest.

My diagnosis is real, but I'm starting to feel like I'm not. Like everything has been sesationalized, but I'm just living my life.
