Stop taking the pill
So I’ve been on the mini pill (progesterone only) for over a decade. It suits me perfectly, I have no issues at all, hormones seem balanced, no bleeding at all, skin is fine - I really have no issue taking it.
The reason I started was because I’ve been in sexual relationships and didn’t want to get pregnant. I stopped briefly for a couple of months 2 years ago and then got into another relationship and started again and my body went into HAVOC, bleeding excessively everyday for 4 months until it completely stopped and I’ve been fine since.
Now, me and my long term partner have split up and have been for 9 months. I haven’t been sexually actively since but I’m still taking the pill as it is my norm and doesn’t seem to affect me.
Should I stop? I feel like I want to as I have no current sexual activity but also aware that if I was to stop and start, should the activity change, I’d be putting my body through hell again.
I’ve googled and read that you can just stay on the mini pill with no adverse reactions until you’re 50+ (I’m 30 btw). But also don’t want to be fuelling myself with a drug that isn’t necessary.
Anyone been in this position or can give advice ?
