Ugh! Help please

Ugh!! I messed up. I'm in a rental and was laying down peel and stick tile backsplash in the kitchen. It's my first time doing it, and I always don't have the steadiest hand. In short, it was incredibly crooked-- so I slowly peeled it off to try again— unfortunately I ended up peeling off quite a bit of paint, when I tried to re-do a few of the panels of wallpaper.

I got flustered, and being the amateur interior decorator that I am... I sort of just covered it right back up again with the stick and peel tile and moved on. What should I do?
