Why does my disc only work on certain days?

Hi everyone,

Ive been using my disc for years now and I love it so much. Its such a life saver. But I have such an annoying problem it never ever worked on the first day of my period because it just wont go in and its the same thing at my last day. Is this normal? Is it because of my cervix changing height??
