QUESTION: How do perceive daimyō in fics?

I have read many fics that gives into Naruto politics and obviously daimyō is one of the main person that needs to be dealt with. Most make him outright evil and scandalous. Some just don't dwell on it much. What are your thoughts though? Like if I want to write daimyō as a character in a fic which takes place before konoha building, how is the council appointed and also there are nobles too. What do you think??? Tell me your opinions.
