Plaquenil Toxicity

Hello, I was diagnosed with Lupus SLE in 2016 (I suffered for years before the diagnosis). I get my eyes checked every six months because of the RARE side effect Plaquenil Toxicity that causes retinal detachment. WELL, I’ve never had any issues the past nine years until last week. My eye doctor said there’s beginning signs, she said her entire 30 year career she’s never seen a Lupus patient get it. I flunked the peripheral vision test and her view of my right eye has indicated toxicity. The rheumy doesn’t agree that my meds are causing it but she did take me off of it. I am on methotrexate so she said we’ll see how I do without. I don’t know if it’s coincidence but I am having a flare, it’s probably with weather changes, honestly. Does anyone else live okay without hydrochloroquin? Is the methotrexate enough? I’m a nervous nelly.
