When a letter makes two sounds…

Taking down a name for a work thing - younger teenager-

“it’s Javin with a G” … “so, Gavin?”

Turns out, No. spelled the same way but the G is not pronounced as a hard Guh G rather a soft Jah G. So Javin but with a G. I assume he has to do through this with every single person he tells his name to! ugh.
