Paper Abuse Stalking Cases

Criminal Law

I recently learned through verified official sources that two stalking injunction cases were filed against me in Florida. The judge did not grant a temporary protection order in either case.

Here’s what’s happening: • I’m currently in a secure location outside Florida for my protection. I’m not hiding — I’ve even asked multiple times to be given the paperwork — but I have not been formally served. • When the sheriff’s office reached out, it wasn’t through formal service. I received a call from what appeared to possibly be a deputy’s personal phone number, not an official line. • In a text, the deputy explicitly wrote: “If we have court process for you, we have a legal right to contact you. Now that I know you’re out of state, and we’re not going to be able to serve you. You have no reason or cause to contact my phone again.” • My family and friends are also being contacted by the sheriff’s office about this case. • Attorneys tried to access the case file, but the clerk won’t release the documents until I’m personally served. I’ve called several attorneys in Florida — only one was able to confirm the case details through some special access they had. Others couldn’t see the case at all. • For context: I already had one of the petitioners blocked on social media, and I recently blocked the other as well. I’ve also locked down my accounts. I’ve taken steps to avoid any contact and to protect myself even though I am not under any orders.

My questions: 1. Is it normal or legal for a Florida deputy to say they won’t attempt service just because I’m out of state? 2. Is there a way to accept service without being confronted in person (mail, fax, or through my attorney)? 3. How long does Florida law give them to complete service before the case is dismissed (I’ve heard 120 days from filing, which was September 5)? 4. Since the clerk is withholding the petition, is there any motion or public records request that can force disclosure so I can defend myself?

This situation is taking a toll on me mentally. I’m already in therapy for mental abuse and trauma connected to the same people who filed these cases, and I want to address this properly instead of being left in the dark.

Any advice or procedural clarity would be greatly appreciated. Location: Maine
