Why did they suddenly decide to make Sabine force sensitive?

Sabine is a well established character with a deep background story. Throughout all of Rebels, they never once hinted that she may be force sensitive… not even when she wielded the dark saber. Sabine was a badass mandalorian who could give Jedi like Kanan and Ezra a run for their money. She didn’t need the force to kick ass.

Now that she’s force sensitive they totally nerfed her character and abilities. Sabine was a great character as she was, so why such a dramatic change in the live action series?
