Union

If my store became a union how would it change? I am the only one who supports unions at my store. The reasons the other baristas do not support being apart of a union is because they said it creates a divide with the store manager and it makes for a hostile work environment. I’m trying to understand why that would be.

From my understanding being apart of a union benefits the employees. We can negotiate better pay, benefits, work conditions. Especially recently with the new CEO and ridiculous new expectations I can’t wrap my head around why my store is so against it. Does anyone have any resources or links I could watch? Or personal experience if you are a Union store, if your work environment became better or worse, brought everyone closer together or created a divide. What the store managers position is in this.

My coworkers said because they love my manager (he is a good store manager) that a union isn’t necessary but i don’t believe it even really has to do with the store manager. More so the company itself and the rules and policies we must follow set by the board of directors, correct? Which has nothing to do with a store manager. I get the store manager can’t be involved in the negations.
