Removing items?
Hello! So I (16F) have been a vegetarian for about six months now. As I’m doing it for ethical and environmental reasons, I understand hat vegan would be better, but currently I’m pretty reliant on my parents for meals and I understand that they’re already going out of their way to make substitutions for me when they cook, so I’m sticking with vegetarianism for now. I might graduate to veganism/vegan-adjacent when I live on my own. My question is this: when we’re on the road, my parents will often pack frozen meals (ex: breakfast sandwiches) that come in a large pack and do have meat, because the rest of the family eats meat. They tell me that I can just remove it or (strong hinting here) just eat it once in a while, it won’t hurt me. Obviously, I would rather the meat not be purchased in the first place, but it puts me in a conundrum, because I’m also not a fan of food waste. The meat has been purchased either way. Currently, I’ve been taking it off, because I don’t feel comfortable eating it, but is that worse? What would you guys do? Anyway, I’m just curious as to your thoughts on this. I’m still fairly new to this and figuring things out. Thank you in advance!
