Do you find yourself with less patience for rigorous debate now?

Until recently, I thrived on intellectual sparring across the political spectrum. I actively sought out these conversations and welcomed opposing viewpoints. But everything shifted after Charlie was killed.

Charlie's death alone wouldn't have changed my appetite for debate, it was the reaction from the other side that broke something in me. Time and again, I've heard 'Charlie didn't deserve to die, but...' followed by rationalization. The implication seems to be that his very presence as a conservative voice was so provocative that he invited his own demise. Yet Charlie held mainstream conservative positions. His only 'crime' was being a visible representative of our ideology.

I've tried returning to political discussions, but I've lost all patience for the intellectual dishonesty. Opponents argue in bad faith, distort facts, and dodge real issues. When pressed on substantive points, they rapidly shift to avoid acknowledging the violent extremists within their own ranks.

I'm done wasting energy on extended arguments with people who refuse to confront this dangerous moment. I feel manipulated by distant provocateurs and can't justify the time anymore. Am I'm not alone in feeling this way?
