Looking for - colony

I was hoping someone could help me find a book. Im pretty sure its called colony, not the one written by Annika norlin, that being the only one I can find on a Google search. It was one of my favourite books in my later teenage years, probably 14 years ago, one of the treasures I found in charity book fairs. I remember the front cover was prodoninantly red and I think it had a lot of references involving a similarity between ant colonys and army structure - military being the main theme of the book.

Thanks to anyone who can help
